Theme Proposal for Inter Campus Gathering 2011
“Faith Empowerment”
Introduction
I joined 2 ICGs before and the themes that were chosen were consistent with the times and I manage to decipher a flow in the ideas from the both, from Our faith our freedom to Our religion the in thing. We have first learnt of choice and freewill to worship any faith and God (Christianity for us) and to defend that choice we have made. Then we have been enlightened to know that following religion and putting it as part of our lives as ok and a priority, nothing to be ashamed and feared off. Now having known of the freedom of choice and our choice of Jesus is the In thing what now? We now need the drive to put the faith into action and thus need the drive to do so in the right way according to what Jesus as though us. We also need to be strong on our fundamental basic foundation of our faith of Christianity being strong, ‘patriotic’, loyal and proud of it. Having strong basics will ensure our faith will stand strong.
Prologue
We are Christians. We are Catholics. We have faith in Jesus Christ. How do we put it into action? What does Jesus wants us to do? What are the teachings of Christ and of his mission of us in this world? Catholics nowadays do not know how to be Catholics. The mindset and mentality that catechism has thought us drifts away after confirmation and faith becomes something personal so much so it becomes a selfish tool. God is only to oneself and in the end we began to follow the God we made but not the God who made us. God is only there to answer our prayers and to do so we must continue to worship Him??? Is God a Master and are we his slaves? How do we bring back the sheep back to right camp? How do we become correct Catholics, but first we need to know what does it mean to become a catholic. Being a catholic and the essence of its fundamental believe is the triad of God Self and Community. Now the focus of community is eroding as people become more selfish and individualistic succumbing to the earthly wimps of materialism and so on. No though many claim to have Jesus in them but are they really following what Jesus wants us to do following His will? Jesus came down to serve and not to be served. He died for us, he lived for us. He came for all of us as he lived at his time with the community. So we too need to follow his reason for his coming, to serve. Many Catholics questions sometimes why is the church busy fighting for justice and peace, playing with politics, ‘busy bodying’ into every issue and they also question if all this part of the bible and the teachings of Jesus. Furthermore they say that the church is old fashion and outdated and is becoming redundant. Is it so? The church does not bow down to the pressures of society following its wimps and fancies but upholds Christ ways. Catholics say yes to uphold morality, justice and peace, equality, basically maintaining a civilization and we need to prove it to them and to ourselves too.
Objectives
To instill the concept of God Self and Community as being a Catholic
To empower students to put their faith into action
To call students to follow Jesus purpose of his coming

To instill respect and trust to the church Jesus built on Peter.
Vision
Students empowered by Christ putting His works into action through us.
Mission
To reach out to the poor and needy

The verse from the bible to me :
Ephesians 4:1 NIV
As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.

Us and Death
How, when, why, who, what is of death? Who of cos we know - all of us duh one day. Why....so that there would be continuation and renewal of life. What? - time when u are not alive haha. How - brain die already. When? Ha! When?
When will death come? Actually no one knows but does the person who is going to die know? How will he know and how does he know that one is going to die. And those signs will it come to the close loved ones too?
I have heard many stories before always after the death as occurred loved ones talk about signs that they missed. Stuff like mirror breaking, candle lights goes of unexpectedly during prayers and butterflies start to fly in the stomach stuff like that. And many of those stories are like got nothing to do with death or perhaps mere co-incidence or just a spark of emotional disturbances - something which cannot realte those events to the death that has occurred. So most of the time all these is put aside and sort of silently taken as rubbish. One story is that all of a sudden a pet come caressing on the owner (the deceased) and that spark sence of weirdness and all. When all these events took place no one thinks of death even to those who are going to die.
But something happened to me which got me bewildered. One day M called me and said K is making unusually loud noise. K always makes noise and D always scolds her and M is not so much of complaining like got immune d. When i got the call M told be that and i got this weird sence. I never expected M to make such a complain to me and moreover she ask me if there is any medication to keep her quiet. Well there is non but i said give her cough mixture which is a mild sedative. She also asked me why is she suddenly making such noise and also said the day before she was looking at the ceiling and pointing towards it as usual making noise. I jokingly actually not really said she perhaps is going to go d. M hushed me and i retract the statement. In my head i was still thinking perhaps she is going to go. During the period of unusual noise making D was not at home sum more. 2 days later K had seizure second to TIA. 6 days later she died. When i heard of the dx (my own one actually) i was prepared for the worst but gave room for better possibilities which was not likely tough based on her condition. Now she is dead i was wondering was i right one the sign? Why din I brushed it away - perhaps it has been conditioned d for me to be anticipating such news and relating it to death.
However i myself feel weird of my being. I feel like i am a camera 24/7 for somebody. somebody is watching this world through my eyes. My name itself means the watchful one. Who am I? Do i hold any powers? hehe perhaps not - highly unlikely. Furthermore i am going to become a doctor. But i dont want to become a doctor who can predict death but i want to predict life for goodness sake. I want to function and be like what should a doctor be like!!!!
Have i broken the clue to the calling of death. The biggest death that broke my heart to pieces till this day was the death of my cousins in a go and that event is something i am reluctant to recall and it was very painful.
Does God give us signs of death? Perhaps he is trying to say dont take life of loved ones and self for granted. Maybe if the sign comes to the one who is going to die then it is to give them a sign saying your purpose on earth is over and now you can return home to Him. If it comes to the loved ones then it may mean dont take for granted and start mending?
A fren told me of what a pastor told him on why Good people die faster - Perhaps their purpose on earth is over and God has called them back. For K i dunno what is the exact purpose of her life but perhaps in the time to come we would know.
A bad feeling just came in. Will this death be a sort of punishment for M n D for not taking care well of K or for not valuing fully her life and not being able to see her purpose on this earth? I hope God have Mercy of M n D's family. We ask Thee for forgiveness. But is it too late??
I am very sad for not being close to M n D through this troubled periods sum more being far away from them. Would be different if i was in Cheras. I wish i could be in the hospital helping to monitor the situation as i have the knowledge though limited.
Many things about purpose death myself my family etc are running in my head. I let it run till it stops - i feel perhaps some answer to questions i do not know would arise from it.
This moment i would never forget and i will keep in mind as a clue to who i really am.

Youth and church
Does the church understand the youths of today? As we all know every generation of kids popping out into this world there is a new mentality which is basically more modern in materialism and the way i see more backward in thought. having to have that hypothesis in mind and also the current challenges everyone faces (in terms of youths) it is hard to manage these youths. The church cannot use authoritative power over these people - they would simply run. Rules is also a no no. Guidelines is also a maybe. To address this issue the church would 1st need to understand the psychological nature of youths both the natural and the worldly. Adolescence is a period os soul, identity seeking and also personality developement. And we know there are 3 theories of personality development. Understanding them and using the tricks acquired from them only can the church address the youths. The youths needs guidelines thought its a 'maybe' and should be well received with open arms. The church should allow them to make mistakes and also at the same time allow them to be independent - give them room to explore. Let them question their faith. There is nothing for us to hide in Christianity as the truth is always there. What i mean by allowing to do mistakes is that make sure u told them its wrong, when they make the mistake accept them back and show them God, but dont condemn them.
Adolescence is a dynamic period of life therefore a dynamic approach would be good. they dont like to be controlled....let them be as they are but always be at their side.
Lately the church has centralized the university youths into the larger mother body on youths called ASAYO. this has left us now to follow what the big body does. Unsure on how are the details of the organization but i presume that the CSSes would end up as single independent body already. All university youths are required to join the church youths. It is simply to large to handle for a particular parish to have about 100o youths wanting to do something not to forget other church ministries and their activities. More university youths will stop coming to church. More youths will start to despise the church for not understanding them and these youths will grow up and grow away form the church and then later will bear children further away form he church. SO now - what will be the future of the church. Is it not like the church is setting a time bomb for itself???
However sometimes we cannot put absolute blame on the church policy makers as they are by nature old fashioned, apathetic, and out of touch. For them the concept of rule by law and centralization and typical hierarchy is tattooed into their mind. Therefor we can only wait for hope of a change probably starting with a change of leadership. But at the same time we should not continue to fight the new system but try to work our way around it or withing it. Perhaps some if not more good can still come out of it. I feel that most system implemented fail not due to the system per say but it is due mostly by the members in it.
Although we disagree to certain things the church does we should not run from the reality that it is run by humans who are sinners themselves and for more who are we compared to those religious in such matter for us to judge and brand and we too are not perfect either. Our church has lived for 2009 yrs with God's grace and we should turn to Him and pray for the betterment of our Church and also for those policy makers. If we do not do such that makes us protestants.
We need to be obedient to out Holy Mother Church on which Jesus has built on the rock - Peter, our Faith and Our God Jesus Christ!
Amen - peace.

Silent Fool - peace?
From a forwarded mail
---------------------------------------------------------
A German's View on Islam
A man, whose family was German aristocracy prior to World War II, owned a number of large industries and estates. When asked how many German people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can guide our attitude toward fanaticism. 'Very few people were true Nazis,' he said, 'but many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many more were too busy to care. I was one of those who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools. So, the majority just sat back and let it all happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us, and we had lost control, and the end of the world had come. My family lost everything. I ended up in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed my factories.'
We are told again and again by 'experts' and 'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just want to live in peace. Although this unqualified assertion may be true, it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to somehow diminish the spectra of fanatics rampaging across the globe in the name of Islam.
The fact is that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in history. It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide. It is the fanatics who systematically slaughter Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and are gradually taking over the entire continent in an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb, behead, murder, or honour-kill. It is the fanatics who take over mosque after mosque. It is the fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and hanging of rape victims and homosexuals. It is the fanatics who teach their young to kill and to become suicide bombers.
The hard quantifiable fact is that the peaceful majority, the 'silent majority,' is cowed and extraneous.
Communist Russia was comprised of Russians who just wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian Communists were responsible for the murder of about 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant. (www..itwillpass.com/guns_gun_registration.shtml)
China's huge population was peaceful as well, but Chinese Communists managed to kill a staggering 70 million people.
The average Japanese individual prior to World War II was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan murdered and slaughtered its way across South East Asia in an orgy of killing that included the systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians; most killed by sword, shovel, and bayonet.
And, who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into butchery. Could it not be said that the majority of Rwandans were 'peace loving'?
History lessons are often incredibly simple and blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points: Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my friend from Germany , they will awaken one day and find that the fanatics own them, and the end of their world will have begun.
Peace-loving Germans,Japanese,Chinese,Russians, Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians, Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others have died because the peaceful majority did not speak up until it was too late.
As for us who watch it all unfold, we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our way of life.
Lastly, anyone who doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes this email without sending it on, is contributing to the passiveness that allows the problems to expand. So, extend yourself a bit and send this on and on and on! Let us hope that thousands, world wide, read this and think about it, and send it on - before it's too late.

50 years and still spoiling
Why is our Malaysian culture as such now? Apathetic, no unity or should i saw pseudounity, kiasu, live for themselve, racist, not patriotic, inefficient and unproductive in comparison to 1st world countries (modernlah).?? Why?
I would put the blame on the government who has control of our whole community of Malaysians. They have shaped us and their shaping strategy has fallen short (really short) in the long run basis.
As we all know our government is under BN aka UMNO for the past 50 years and they have been championing Malay rights since it was born. If we look back into history this objective was i would say rightful to build up nationalism to win independence and later to become a striving community like the Japanese after the radiation they encountered made them overproduction good for the country :-P (probably we need a dose too....no?) However we also know or we should also know that independence and the childhood days of Malaya was also contributed significantly by the non-Malays.
The RMK programs that took off after merdeka was good to build the Malay race and it actually did work till corruption came into power so much so the actual losers were the Malays themselves. When corrupted people came into power they brought along fear, fear of loosing their corrupted power. SO what happend was that to prevent losing the gave 'generously' saying that it is their right as bumi's. So they ought to get it 'free'. Well humans learn to grow by falling and also according to the theory of reward and punishment however the Malays never fell or punished but they were rewarded. So how could have they learned?? Therefore the result is laziness and unproductiveness or their race which is obviously seen by the number of Mat rempits (there goes the so called project of 1 family 1 graduate .... now 1 family 1 rempit has been born instead) Well the are contiousely being fed though. Guess what Nabi ISa said they did not bother : give a man a fish eats for a day, teach him to fish eats forever. The BN/UMNO has spoilt the whole race who lives only on rewards now fear of loosing it which will eventually happen in a painful way later. They ahve devolepd low self esteem. They also know that their race is so incapable when not helped then will end up showing the withdrawal symptoms if it happens which means - riots etc. To shut the fear of the loss they mistakenly continue to fuel their wrong doings by continue to feed but not educate and also poisoning their minds with racism and disunity under the banner of 1 Malaysia.
Now that is the story of why the Malays are as they are today. Now lets look at how the non-Malays got spoilt. Well 1 Malaysia did exist long time ago before May 13. Before that the non we patriotic and it was building up in becoming stronger till all seemed to be going unfair instead. Everything was given to the Malays. Well it is ok to give but the government is giving in the expense off our rights. Now this is frustrating and wrong ethically and morally. So since MIC and MCA are wagging dogs to most of the extant the non begun their own way of surviving. So the only way is to be selfish already. If not u wont be able to survive in this country since everything in your expense is going to the Malays. It is a natural thing - survival of the fittest. So in the long run we have forgotten patriotism, we have left the country (brain drain), we became only superficially united but not deep in, we hate the malays for being unproductive and inefficient and also jealous towards them u know why and we hate the government. We could not change the government for fear of loosing even the skill of survival we have in us. We might be marginalized to the max if we dont support the proxy face of good BN. We dont like the politicians and it has become mundane of politics as nothing changes. So we become apathetic to the politics of the country. MCA and MIC gave us so much false hope which spanned generations causing us to forget our rights too.
The vernacular schools need to go but not now for if it goes off now then there goes our rights too and also our identity. As long as the Malays get everything we cannot afford to give away what we have already have in our hands. Our forefathers who signed the disillusioned 5 social contract we dumb but perhaps most probably at that time all including the Malays leaders did not foresee the future of what would have the contract would become off.
Now a cycle. The nons dislike the Malays and for their survival stayed away from the government sectors example the government service, military and police so much so it has come to appoint where they cant have leaders off other races among their ranks. How can a minority lead a majority??? They got a point and we cant complaint. Perhaps of the nons we have in the those sectors are not so capable too. So their goes another excuse for them not to put one. At the same time these sectors also control the flooding of non into them since there are many more Malays who depend on the government to survive for they just cant survive in the private sector.
Now what is happening is a revolution which will take time to end. It has begun the age where thigs are going to change but so far it has not turn violent. I also doubt it will turn violent course generally Malaysians are peaceful and dont riot. Even if we do it is always a peaceful riot until the police interferes. Ah coming to think further. the non also dont want to join the gov sector due to the corruption it has in it. These corruption are sometimes silent. So the losers BN/UMNO are ebing sore loosers therefore they start branding all those against the government as traitors using ISA on innocent people. Instigation and pressuring the opposition leaders on baseless accusation, courts and other gov agencies taking sides. Putting up sandiwaras and stupid slogans as eye washers. Mainstream media gone to them.
so people be patient continue to fight. Justice will prevail unfortunately after fucking everyone.
The Malays can easily be instigated. This is because they cant think for themselves already because the government has spoiled their minds. However thankfully there are smart Malays around who do fight back.
All great organization will eventually fall one day. History has proven it. BN will fall one day. It has begun. Just for the looser dont be sore.
Allahu Wukbar
My word? Your word?
The church is fighting for the word Allah to be used legally once and for all in its publications and also in its practice of the faith. Why we do it for i feel is because : our basic right to use any language
: no one can own words or any language
: the usage of Allah by Christians dates back before the time of Islam even before
Christianity itself
: This word is freely used by Christian Arabs
: It is a direct translation of God into Malay
: Freedom of practicing our religion in our own language (East Malaysian)
: the Catholic church has been using this word since it stepped foot in this land
with no trouble.
The government say that we cant use these words because it confuses the Muslims and also
infringes into their religious right. My question : Are your followers of Islam so stupid to become confused? What have you all been teaching them? What about our rights in practicing our religion? Is our religion not worthy of its right or is it a second class religion? Furthermore is it not Malay the national language so why not we use this word then?
Why are the Muslims afraid? Are they afraid that they would convert or just leave the religion? They cant leave the religion!! They can convert too!! So what are they afraid off??
Well it is very clear that in the utmost logical right mind beyond intellectualism and any higher school of thought that there is no wrong in Christians using the word Allah. Arab people themselves laugh at the Malaysian Muslims on how they practice Islam and this fight going on. This fight is childish, stupid and unnecessary and it is just tarnishing the image of this country further.
If the government wins then Malaysia is under the bad light of being an :
extreamist country
no freedom of religion
confirms further the legal subtle persecution
the intention of going further to curb freedom of religion
downfall of the non-Muslim trust on the government
further lost of respect towards the Islamic religion itself
1 Malaysia slogan can be used to wipe shitty ass
fueling more unpatriotism, disharmony etc etc
I dont see any positivity for the country and its people even the Muslims themselves if the gov wins.
That is there. Now even among the Christians there are those who ask the church to stop this court case and give way for the gov to win. What makes them say that :
they have low self esteem
they are cowards
they dont appreciate, apathetic to their basic fundamental rights
they are blind to the future consequences of a ruling which can effect the society
in Malaysia in the long run
they are allowing room and means and ways for themselves to be persecuted.
they are selfish (this ruling affect more of the East Malaysians)
they are already not patriotic that why they dont care what will happen here
Since those people are selfish then of cos either ways it would not effect them so please dont impose your selfish thoughts on those who are not.Same goes for the Muslims.
Such people are easily cheated and their lives are not worth living for they do not examine it.
Where is their sense of pride? Love and faithfulness of your faith and religion?
Is this how you stand up for your religion.
Be thankful that the church is going according to law to fight and not to the streets like the Muslims customary do things.
Are you not proud for your religion or you just do not know your religion enough to feel anything for it?
maybe they just dont want trouble. Well yes who wants it but is running away from trouble/problem a way to solve it?? If yes then u are utterly wrong simply it just does not work that way. If u dont solve trouble, trouble will dissolve u. This is a problem and what the church is doing is a way to solve it. The Holy Mother Church is not a coward and will not bow down to an sort of persecution and human weakness and demands. To solve a problem u need a solution not run away from it.
It is sad that many people nowadays are becoming such. Our future society i feel is already to the dogs and it is because how the government has brought us up (look out for the next post)
The Muslims should instead of fueling hatred towards the non-Malays by teaching the followers the wrong things they should take the opportunity to teach them about sharing. We share same words for the same God. Is it not sharing is caring? Islam does teach about sharing right? I also feel that many Muslims here dont mind the Christians here using this word. It is a disfavor for the Muslims fighting this issue.
We need to learn something from the Muslim side here. Look at them. They are so united when it comes to their religion and they really fight for it even if it is for the wrong reasons. (basically most for the time haha)Why cant we Christians unite this time and fight for this right reason! This is justice. We are fighting for justice and is this not also Jesus thought us. Sometimes peace can only be achieved through wars (physical or mental). On winning we would be able to appreciate the winning and treasure it.
The cartoon series of transformers episode 59 war dawn (see in youtube) sets a good example in this case. The new robots were questioning why they should battle the deceptions and at the same time save the humans. After an incident only they realized why, mere explanation by optimus and the rest did not work.
I despise people who say to give in to injustice and God will take care of it? How will he take care of it if it is not through you?? Do you think Jesus is going to come again to save the day like he did before?? When you die he would ask you in heavens gate besides saving your ass on earth what else did you do? Did you do what i did and saved another?
This Allah issue is a silly issue and yes it is sad that the church is brought into it. Well this is the sacrifice the church has to take to uphold justice. The sacrifice of a possible loss and shame and further criticism. The soldier asked Jesus 'SInce u claim u r the Son of God why dont you save yourself?' Now did Jesus did that? Ask yourself?
Fight for justice never mind if you loose for your failure in the fight is a stepping stone for greater final victory by others. If you did not fight and loose then u have deemed yourself not worth to fight for and live for too.
